Monday, April 7, 2008 With the scientific community and agro experts expressing concern over the health of people consuming chemicals and pesticides, Sahaja Samrudha, has come forward to provide organic food to the garden City, to bail out small and marginal farmers in distress. It is a symbiotic effort as a network of small and marginal farmers in the State are set to launch our first organic outlet in the City, to ensure pest and chemical-free products for the people. The organisation, formed by a group of small and marginal farmers, was started much before the government embarked on the 'Savayava Gramas' (organic villages) concept, and has farmers from over 50 villages in eight districts of the State. Dr. Ramakrishnappa, Director Dept. of Horticulture and Prof. Radha Krishna, Principal Surana College were the chief guest and was inaugurated by well known organic farmer Mr. Ramakrishnappa. In this occasion G. Krishna Prasad, co-ordinator of the group, told to media that the organisation has a two-fold motive. " We aim to provide a decent price to the poor farmers as it would not only encourage farmers to give up chemical farming, but also bail them out of distress in this era where they do not even have a support price for ther produce," he said. The unit, which is housed by Mr. Govinda Kabadi in Rajajinagar, will sell over 50 products. For more details contact: |
