G. Krishnaprasad, Founder Director of Sahaja Samrudha, is fondly called as KP, is an Ashok Fellow, with an Mtech in Environmental Engineering. Rural Karnataka’s ‘native seed man’ is KP. For 25 years, he’s been leading a movement to conserve indigenous varieties of seeds. The establishment of Sahaja Samrudha was a step in this direction and the organisation networks with organic farmers, promotes knowledge and information and also enables exchange of seeds.
He was at the forefront of a revival movement to conserve indigenous varieties of seeds. He has written prolifically on seed conservation. He has brought many seed savers into the limelight. He has organised many conferences of seed-savers in Karnataka and was successful in including seed conservation programme in the state’s organic farming policy.

Organic Traditional Seed Marketing: KP for his keen interest in collecting and conserving indigenous seeds is popularly titled as ‘Seed Man’. KP believes that the assured supply of quality organic seeds is the first step towards the preservation of traditional varieties of seeds and organic farming.
